Welcome to Kentisbeare Pre-School

If you would like to arrange a visit to have a look around Kentisbeare Pre-School please contact our school office on 01884 266330 and we would be happy to make you an appointment.

We currently take children after their 3rd birthday.

Kentisbeare Pre-School

Our highly skilled Early Years Team offer exciting, fun-filled, age-appropriate learning opportunities in a caring, welcoming and inspiring environment. We cater to the needs of each child and know all children are individuals and unique.

Kentisbeare Pre-School is part of an integrated Foundation Stage Unit, on the school site, consisting of children aged between 3 and 5 years old.  The Pre-School (3 and 4 year olds – Acorn Class) is led by Miss Lowe. The Reception (4 and 5 year olds – Ash Class) is led by Miss H. Lunn. Both Classes work very closely together and this relationship supports a very smooth transition into full-time schooling.

Children have their own classrooms as their 'bases' but share the outdoor learning environment. Our children love working alongside children both older and younger than themselves and embrace exploring and showing curiosity using their inquisitive minds.

Mrs Ring is the Key Person for all children in our Pre-school setting, however please feel free to pass messages to other staff and they will ensure they get passed to Mrs Ring.

All adults that work within the Foundation Stage are highly-trained and help to set up a wide range of  wonderful activities and opportunities for our children from all areas of the EYFS curriculum. We aim to create a calm and stimulating atmosphere where all children can learn and build upon their knowlege and understanding. There is a mixture of adult led and child initiated activities. Children are encouraged to be independent and work as part of a team. The children’s interests are at the heart of all planned learning opportunities.

The Pre-School Day

Pre-School opens at 8.50am. You can bring your child through the school gates along with the pupils of the main school.  If you are early you can wait in the covered play area. The school gates open at 8.40am and they close at 9am (8.55am for school aged children).

If your child’s session ends at 12pm or 1pm a member of staff will bring your child to you at the school entrance, so please wait close to the office door. If your child is staying for a full day the Pre-School staff will bring your child up to the school gate to meet you at 3.25pm.

If there is to be a change of adult collecting your child, please advise the Pre-School or office staff.

We are very lucky to be based in a bright and inspiring environment. The Pre School has access to the whole school playground; including an outdoor classroom, school field, climbing wall, tyres to balance on and a story-telling area. The grounds incorporate a stream – great for observing ducks and river dipping!

Pre-school Clothing

We are a very active Pre-School and we can get quite messy at times. We therefore ask partents to provide spare clothes for accidents/water/messy play. Shoes that cover toes are required. During hot spells please also provide a sun hat and named bottle of sun cream.

Children may wear their own 'home clothes' to our preschool however we have a uniform which is optional. We have a Kentisbeare pre-school t-shirt and jumper that can be perchased. If you are interested in buying one of these please get in contact with our Early Years Team.

Please find below Pre-School Curriculum Maps. These will be updated and added to throughout the year.
