Kentisbeare Preschool

Our highly skilled Early Years Team offer exciting, fun-filled, age-appropriate learning opportunities in a caring, welcoming and inspiring environment. We cater to the needs of each child and know all children are individuals and unique.

Kentisbeare Pre-School is part of an integrated Foundation Stage Unit, on the school site, consisting of children aged between 3 and 5 years old.  The Pre-School (3 and 4 year olds – Acorn Class) is led by Mrs Ireland, Mrs Reed and Miss Martin. The Reception (4 and 5 year olds – Ash Class) is led by Miss H. Lunn. Both classes work very closely together and this relationship supports a very smooth transition into full-time schooling. 

Children have their own classrooms as their 'bases' and have their own outdoor learning environment. Our children love working alongside children both older and younger than themselves and embrace exploring and showing curiosity using their inquisitive minds.

Mrs Ireland and Mrs Reed are the Key Persons for all children in our Pre-school setting, however please feel free to pass messages to other staff and they will ensure they get passed to Mrs Ireland and Mrs Reed. 

All adults that work within the Foundation Stage are highly-trained and help to set up a wide range of  wonderful activities and opportunities for our children from all areas of the EYFS curriculum. We aim to create a calm and stimulating atmosphere where all children can learn and build upon their knowlege and understanding.There is a mixture of adult led and child initiated activities. Children are encouraged to be independent and work as part of a team. The children’s interests are at the heart of all planned learning opportunities.

The Preschool Day

Pre-School opens at 8.40am. You can bring your child through the school gates along with the pupils of the main school. The school gates open at 8.40am and they close at 9am (8.55am for school aged children).

If your child’s session ends at 12pm or 1pm a member of staff will bring your child to you at the school entrance, so please wait close to the office door. If your child is staying for a full day the Pre-School staff will bring your child up to the school gate to meet you at 3.20pm.

If there is to be a change of adult collecting your child, please advise the Pre-School or office staff.
